Hey My name is Drew Talbott. I am new to this site. I own a 1993 Ford F350 Diesel with the crew cab, long bed, 7.3L international engine. It is turbo charged. I have been having trouble with my brakes. The brake light is coming on constantly when i am driving. It will also go off at random. And tonight, my abs light came on. I got really worried when i put my foot to the floor, and my truck wouldnt stop quickly at all, so i down shifted to stop my self. I am hoping this isnt a huge issue. Could someone help me out and explain to me the possible issue? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

welcome to the Diesel Stop

First thing is sorry it took so long to reply, but the site was down for about 3 hrs this A.M. might have been cleanup time for them....If the "brake" light comes on and goes off then I would be checking the vacum pump. There is a procedure in CNDSARGUY's gallery. It is two parts so make sure you do it all.

On mine the ABS light will come on for low fluid. Is your truck manual or automatic? If it's a manual then you need to look at the VSS ( vehicle speed sensor) located in the rear differential. take it out and inspect for excess metal dust...clean it and then look at all the wiring for chaffing or exposed wire.

This site seems to go down more than any other autoforums sites (e.g. on the same network)...
