Have been reading every brake post i could find...took some tips but havent read about the same symptoms.

Changed pads all around in july.

First. i got home and my brakes smelled hot. The front driver smelled the worst though my truck was not pulling to either side. Didnt think much of it. Drove it a day later without problems for about a half mile and then i could tell something was wrong and my pedal was rock hard so i went right back home and put it in the garage.
Read up on the site... and ended up replacing the caliper which included new pins and brake pad clips. Bleed caliper and everything "seemed" okay. Drove truck for about 20 miles and the same thing happened. So now im 20 miles from home and thought i fire the truck up and see for some chance it would release and ill just get it home slowly but surely. It did release and i got home with the symptoms starting about half a mile from home. I have the truck jacked up and i couldnt spin the tires on either side. i started the truck for 10 secs and then i spin the tires with some effort.
While replacing the pads, i think the caliper came off the crate it was resting on for a sec. (just trying to provide as much info as possible).

What do you all think?
caliper, rear brakes affecting something, damaged hose?

As always, thanks for your time and help.

Here is a few options for you to try.......

As long as you have it inside, pull the master cylinder and check to see if you have power steering fluid leaking from the brake booster.??
It would explain most of your symptoms.

If not, run truck (in garage) and see if you can duplicate symptoms. If so, crack the lines coming directly from the master cylinder and see if the brakes release. If so, the problem is in master, bad / contaminated fluid, or booser.

This also rules out a bad caliper, and the hoses to the wheels.

You may have more than one problem, as heat generated by braking will cause contaminated brake fluid to boil and expand. Creating your symptoms.

If you have any calipers that hang up when the lines are disconnected, you will need to fix these first, as they create heat that can't dissapate after brake pressuere has been released. (Bad calpiers or sliders)

Think basics if all else fails completely flush the entire system and see if this helps. Cant hurt as brake fluid breaks down with age and heat.

I ended up taking it to the dealership....i hated to but i wasnt going to deal with it and after all i had done. turned out to be the master cylinder as you suggested. $350 later, it should be done. Thanks for your input though. using what you said i would have found it.
