finally got the new drive train in and drove it... realized the break peddle almost reaches the floor before it slows down. I also had problems with the e-break, but i've been told the way to adjust that is running the truck in reverse and hitting the break... I did just replace the rear breaks (shoes, springs, drums). Any ideas why the peddle goes so far before I'm stopping???

Thanks guys...

You need to manually adjust the rear brakes up. There is no parking brake adjustment except when you replace the cables etc.

The self adjusters work when you stop in reverse then stop in forward. But the brakes need to be adjusted properly first, the self adjusters are only made to make very small adjustments.

where do you adjust the rear brakes at?

Will that fix the peddle issue i'm having or mostly the e-brake problem?

Jack up the wheel you'll be adjusting. That little rubber plug on the backing plate, remove it, see the star wheel there, with a screw driver or brake adjusting tool turn it down till you cain't turn the wheel then back off just enough to turn the wheel, then do the other one. Ebrake should be OK then. Still soft brakes ? bleed the air out of them starting at the right rear. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

Bleed as ........RT rear, LT rear, ABS valve, FRT right, FRT left. Top up the M/C reservior often..... use only DOT 3 fluid.... never use synthetic it will foam up in our systems.

FWIW DOT 4 is a higher temp version of DOT 3 and mixes just fine.
