Watch the video in my signature line and then decide on which filter. Why take a chance on damaging an engine over something as cheap as a oil filter or fuel filter.
The Motorcraft filter video in your signature is excellent and it properly lays out the reasons for using genuine Motorcraft filters. The "powerstrokehelp" videos are chock full of mistakes and bad information and are more valuable as entertainment.
There are several filter brands that are good and yes I'll confirm what many members here know, Parker Racor makes the filters for Ford/Motorcraft. I am not going to name brands but the BEST advice I can offer if it means anything is to AVOID ANY FILTER that requires an adapter, the insertion of plastic retainers in the filter stand pipes or filters that have integral caps. An important step when servicing filters is to look into the housing and inspect for pieces of old filters and damage to the standpipe. I have seen over and over again pieces of fuel filters laying in the bottom of secondary filter housings that damage the filter and break the standpipe when the installer jams the filter in and forces the cap on. Same thing for oil filters - some filters leave behind the plastic top that snaps into the cap or an adapter. Ever see those white clips that are inserted in the top of the oil standpipe that hold the valve open? What does that tell you?
Additionally, if you replace your own filters or have someone else do them and use the filters that come with their own caps BE SURE TO SAVE THE OEM CAP because you eventually will need to purchase a new one. A lot of the customers that come back to me at the dealership for service get angry that they have to pay an extra $30+ for a filter cap.
I have seen enough filters in the last few years to say that indeed, all filters are not alike nor are the equal by any means. I respect the guys that do their own maintenance and repairs and I agree with the statement that fluids and filters are no place to cut corners. Fortunately I get the impression that most of the members here are in agreement.
Hope this helps.
