I need a transmission. I want a brains but I dont know how to get info on his trannys. Does he have a web site? Does he ship them out? I was also wondering if there were any other good trannys ATS, etc.

The website is not very informative, so get on the phone and discuss your needs with Patti (Brian's wife and right arm). If you call right at 8 a.m. central time, you might even catch Brian before he gets his hands covered in ATF and grease. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Yes, Brian will build you a tranny to your specs and ship it to you. Then you return the core (the old tranny) in the same container. The "tranny" includes a new Stallion torque converter, a new pan, and almost every part inside the case upgraded with bigger-stronger-better parts, and probably a new bigger oil-to-air tranny cooler. My total bill for all that was almost $3,800 two years ago. Yours will probably be a bit more because of shipping both ways, plus you may have to pay someone to do the R&R and fill it up with new good ATF.

the 1900 price is just the torque converter, and some sort of controller.

for a full trans you're looking at Approximate Cost 4,636.00 with converter. or Approximate Cost 5,088.00 with the upgraded shafts.

If you are able to make the trip to Brian's shop in Lead Hill, installation is included in the overall price. Plus, you'll be able to watch the entire job from start to finish.

I'd be scared of a tranny that costs' $1900. The [email protected] junk is close to $3000 so it's really no TOO much more to get a bullet-proof one. My John Woods tranny got me for $4100 and worth every penny.

Colby,

My BTS experience, somewhat condensed.

On 5/9 passing thru OKC I purchased a load +(2000#) of Hickory firewood for my smoker. When I tried to pull away from lot, I had no forward gear. Middle of the day, I called Brian, he came to the phone. The next morning a truck/trailer showed up, loaded and hauled me(with firewood) to BTS, arriving 7:30 pm.

Brian and crew worked thru the night. Went thru my tranny front to rear, installed all newest upgrades/seals/fluid,etc. PSD ready to go next morning 0800. When he started tearing it down he said he was going to do it slowly and a piece at a time to find problem. Found a broken spring in the valve body. Brian said it was the first one he had seen.

My total out of pocket expense was about what a fluid change would cost. There are other tranny builder, but only BTS for me.

I don't plan on trading my PSD until BTS is rebuilding the newer tranny. When I went originally to BTS, I had a FORD rebuild(warrantee). During teardown it was full of used parts. As I recall Brian threw everything away but the case.

Brian and Patti treated us just like family, plus we got to see the new shop building.

VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE FOR ME, don't ya think??????????

Colby,
I just got back from BTS about 7 hours ago. I was at their truck pull, and Cale dyno tuned my truck. Just call Brian monday morning, you won't be disapointed. It really is worth just making the trip down there. And when they do the install they put in a bigger tranny cooler, and he can get it tuned exactly how you want it before you leave. 870-422-3673. Tell Brian that Chad sent you.

I am headed down there this THURSDAY for Brian,, (Not BrAIN,,though he is one on these) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif To swap the BTS from my 99 to the 03 dually, and vice versa. (Selling the 99 with the stock 03 tranny)
Anyway, where are you in MIDwestern, IL???? I am just west of St.Louis on I-70. Getting there for the "BTS EXPERIENCE" would be worth it for sure!

Scorpion or Stallion?

Oops! Your memory really is better than mine. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

It's a Precision Industries Stallion 13" PowerStroke torque converter. It costs around $1,300 for just the converter.

OKC is "just around the corner" - only a coupla hundred miles - from BTS. It's a rare BTS tranny that goes south, but when you are one of the very few unlucky ones, it's nice to know that Brian will do his best to take care of you. One guy with a similar story broke down in Washington State. Brian took care of him, too.

Brian has at least one BTS tranny in Australia. I hope that Aussi doesn't break his BTS tranny, but I'm sure Brian would take care of him if necessary. Hmmmmm. Wait! That was over two years ago, so F250PSD's warranty period is over. But another good thing about Brian is he doesn't know how to count to 24 months, so a few guys that had a problem after the warranty expired were also taken care of by Brian with no charge.

I'm sure glad I have a BTS tranny, even though it's now out of warranty. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/warmsmile.gif

Where in Mid Western IL are you at? Are you READY to get a tranny right now? Does your truck RUN? Or is it down hard?
