I registered my new to me 2004 F-350 King Ranch (6.0L). Md. Safety Inspection FAILED due to missing EGR cooler (delete had been done within a year by previous owner). In Md., Emission equipment has to be installed as per factory for each different model year. Took it to another shop to replace the cooler I had purchased, and he welded plugs over the ends to make it air tight. The only thing that goes in and out is coolant. During the re-inspection it passed as the cooler was installed and connected as factory (even tho it doesn't work, but tech didn't know that, he was just looking for it to be installed.) And the funny thing is Diesels are Emissions Exempt in Md. Go Figure. My 1965 Mustang (289-2V) with nothing more than a PCV valve gets better #'s on a carbureter than my 2013 Yukon (5.3L F.I.) and full emissions suite. But I've got a Rochester 2GC(manual choke) on the Mustang vs. the crappy Motorcraft 2BBL. And get 21mpg on the hwy. The Motorcraft 2BBL would get 14mpg.
