I need both doors on a 1991 F250 we are putting back together. I have looked through all our local salvage yards and there aren't many good doors for 87-91 especially drivers side doors. There are how ever good doors for 92-97 and the price is the same as the older ones. The newer doors will bolt on the older trucks but aside from an extra support bar in the newer ones what is the difference? The interchange book lists 92 and 93 as different from 94 and later. I found a good 1992 drivers door today and the price was right so I'll keep it even if it won't work on the 87-91. The boxes are the same from 87 to 97 so except for the hood and front fenders I'm not sure where the differences are? Any one that can sort out this mess I'd sure appreciate it

Thanks, Greg

Just off the cuff, they seem to be pretty darned similar. The only thing I notice different is the vent window. The mirror mounts may be different to but can't say for sure as mine are both add ons and the old holes are gone. I'd think the glass from the old doors would fit into the newer ones and all would be well or if you're going to change both doors, why not leave the new style alone? That's my take on it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

just yesterday, i happen to have received the latest catalog from LMC Truck:
pg. 24, 1987-91 part# 49-9938-T (door shell LH, fits models with low mount swing away mirrors $200)
pg. 25, 1992-96 part# 49-9938-T (same description & price)

there are a few different part numbers between the models (pages), but at least we know they are interchangeable. i assume the differences are either non-vented windows and/or the 2 point mount mirrors (like mine)/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

The vent windows are different due to interference with the change in dash design. The door panel holes may not line up, but you can fix that. I know internally my '91 and '92 differ when it comes to gaining access to the window motor, however, I don't think this is a show stopper.

been there--the front electric hole in the door is diff size--92 being larger--the holes for the panel in door--more of them on newer--the rivet hole for the door locks is in a different position--and there no reinforce bar in the older doors--the door locks--meaning the electric ones---------
