I finally got up the nerve and drilled the holes! Thanks to all of you that assisted me with your experience - that's what makes these forums so valuable.
The wiring on an '08 was the thing that took the longest time. Finally got a wire diagram on a forum that show a violet/white wire on the Smart plug on the passenger side (down and under) that is the power for parking lights that I used to connect to. After that dropping the head liner (I have a sunroof) and getting things laid out, then it was good to go.
Thanks again!

Just curious, why do you guys want cab lights on your trucks?
Because it adds to the "beefy" look of the truck. Makes it look even more like a TRUCK, although Ford already did a good job of that to start with.

Glad to help

The new 2008 I am getting this week doesn't have them, so I'll be installing them, too. Any advice, pictures, where to buy them, etcs certainly appreciated.
I bought mine from Recon but there are several companies that sell them. Best source is to do a google search or do a search on this forum - "cab lights".
Do you have a sun roof?
I am not by any means an auto mechanic so this took me a while to finally start taking things apart. The hardest was getting the correct information regarding wiring. The '08 have changed their harnesses and diagrams. I finally found the wire under the passenger side which is connected to a "smart plug" - it is a violet/white wire. I used a t-splice on it to hook the lights wiring harness into and ground off of one of the lights.
Once I got everything started, it really was not that bad. Probably 2 hours or so - most of it was measuring several times and laying out the lights. I have a sunroof so that was a nice access area to work from without having to have someone help with the process.
Good luck and enjoy the truck. Let me know if you need anymore info.

Thanks for the reply. Since I posted, the truck I had coming was sold out from under me, and another one is now on the way... with cab lights. YEEEEEEEE HAWWWW! Now, the truck is all Pueblo Gold, so I am thinking about putting smoke lenses from recon on the mirrors and the cab lights, but I want to put either big rig bar lights on the sides (by the chrome step tubes) or five LED's evenly spaced above the step bars. Thanks again.

I always want the cab lights on my truck because I tow a 24' gooseneck trailer behind me 90% of the time for my construction company. In heavy Denver traffic I constantly have fools that pull out in front of me (over 25,000 lbs combined weight). I figure if I ever have an accident, I can at least say that I did everything in my power to make my rig more visible.

I think that "'08 F350 FX4" is right. The intent is to make it more visible. I believe that any vehicle over 80 inches in width is required to have marker lights to be DOT compliant. I remembering reading this on my DMV test a while ago. Someone else can add to this if I am wrong. I guess that is why the duallys have marker lights in front and in the back of the truck. they are quite wide...
