The problem with this set-up is the relative movement between the truck cab and pick-up body. Next time you're on a road thats less than perfect (or pulling in or out of a driveway) look in the side mirror at the back of cab/front of bed joint....
There used to be flexible boots made just for this type of thing, but I can't say that I've seen one recently. I'd try an RV supplier, or possibly an ambulance body manufacturer since they deal with these issues as well.
