Does anyone have a link on how to lubricate the caliper slide pins, and or directions/recomendations on how to do it.

TIA,

First of all, get yourself some silicon brake lube like this from NAPA (or wherever):

Sil Glyde

It's a very simple task. When you remove the pins, clean them up well with brake cleaner and then apply the Sil Glyde and reinsert into the calipers. Do not be surprised if you have a &^%$ of a time getting the pins out to begin with. If they've been neglected, and therefore seized, you may have to replace the calipers altogether. If your brakes are pulsing when applied, then take this time to have the rotors turned. When you're all done, they'll feel like new again! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

dont forget to get into the slide pin bore real good too. clean pins and fresh silicone will do no good if you put it all back together in dirty bores /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Last week i put new rotors on, however the very first time I used the brakes coming off of the interstate I still had the pulse. Is this a result of the slide pins and will lubricating eliminate the pulse, I mean, would this be your opinion/diagnosis from your computer chair /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif?

pulsing sounds like the result from warped rotors, there have been numerous conversations on here about over tightening the wheels when mounting, this, some say will give you an out of round rotor. have um turned, and no more than 160 ft lbs on the lug nuts in the traditional star pattern,

Then, yes caliper pins COULD be the culprit. Regardless of whether it cures the pulse or not - it's required maintenance to lube the pins anyway. Hopefully, that will cure what ails you, but normally turning the rotors is the trick. See what happens and let us know!

A round of thanks from myself as well. I think my slide pins might be causing an issue I have with my brakes. After hard braking my brakes don't release immediatly like they did when my truck was new and like every other vehicle i have driven. I have a feeling they are sticking and this is the source of my problem.
