I was towing my fifth wheel home from rv dealer and the check engine light came on.I don't have a code reader. The truck is running fine. My ford dealer and all other ford dealers in the area can't touch it for a couple of weeks. Can I disconnect the batteries for fifteen minutes to clear the code and get the cel to turn off? Or will they not be able to retrieve the code that set off the cel?

If you disconnect the batteries, the code in the PCM will be cleared. But, it will also clear the data that was stored at the time the code was generated.

I'd recommend making life a little easier on your tech and live with the light for a few weeks.
