I have eight gallons of CAT prediluted ELC and I know they say you should not use it in our engines. Does anyone know why or is there a link I can read about it. Thanks

I've been using it for quite awhile with no problems. I'm sure someone will come up with some horror story that their engine exploded at the mere mention of "CAT ELC". /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

CAT ELC is a HOAT coolant which might damage the seals and gaskets in the older 94-97 PSD. International did not upgrade their seals and gaskets to use the OAT and HOAT coolants until 1999. Some are using it apparently without any problems. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

i've been running elc for a few years now. i haven't had any problems with leaky seals because of the coolant. i have had to replace the waterpump twice, but they were both due to internal bearing failures, not the seal letting go. in short, no problems because of elc.

Thanks Guys, Wow there sure is alot of info on coolant, maybe I will wait until next week when CAT will be here to do a start up on a couple of new boats and get some of the non elc and mix it with the elc and see what happens /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif Thanks again
