my '94 IDIT seems to have a new issue.

when i give it a burst of off-load throttle (ie revving it up in neutral) it puffs a bit of blueish-white smoke right after.

this doesn't happen after a long burst of throttle, just after a short rev. also doesn't seem to be happening under load. it does this when it is cold as well as once it is warmed up.

is this something i should be worried about? the truck doesn't seem to burn/lose oil but it does lose a little coolant.. which may just be a minor leak or something.

cold starts great in cold weather.. doesn't white smoke too long after cold startup. under 100k on IP, not sure about head gaskets.

oh and a blackstone sample came back with good results a couple months ago before this started happening.

thanks yall!

Im not the best with this but my truck 92 f250 idi does the exact same thing and as far as I know thats common and or maybe a little ring blow by? My old 89 7.3 also did the same and so does my buddy's 94 with only 83,000 on it as well. So my guess is its normal and thats just what it is.. hopefully others will have an opinion..

yeah.. this truck has never blue smoked at all until this month. and it is just a little cloud of it after short burst of throttle Off Load only.

i put max dose of power service (the white bottle) in the fuel all winter, if that might have anything to do with it.

i suspect i will have to do the head gaskets at some point, i sure do hope that is all it is, if anything!

like i said i got a good blackstone report a couple months ago so i dont suspect any major problems... (read: don't WANT to suspect)

Symptom of: blowby, head gasket problems, cavitation.....? It is strange that it only blue smokes after a short burst of throttle off load.
