The purists will have you follow book procedures to the letter. I have had my early '99 since June of 1998 and have yet to drain the fuel bowl when I change the fuel filter. If there is no debris in the bottom of the fuel bowl on inspection after you carefully lift the old filter out, insert the new one slowly so you don't slop any fuel and reinstall the cap with gasket. MAKE SURE you have the gasket installed properly when you reinstall the cap to avoid any leaking.

ya I never bother draining the bowl. I usually change the filter every year which is only 4k miles lol


never any sediment in the bowl and no water either.

The drain is probably clogged anyhow. Lol
