03 F250 XL 5.4 6 sp.
I recently had my fuel gauge stop working. (below E when full) Replaced the sending unit and found the old one to be good so it wasn't that. (replaced it anyway)
I have moved on to "guessing" the gauge cluster is bad. I have located one that will work, it is used but it is high mileage, my truck has 48K on it.
Question,
Is the odo changable? Can I use my old odometer (w/ 48K) in the used higher mileage cluster???
Also, the replacement is for an auto. trans.. I have a 6 sp.. Will that work out okay?

Thanks,,,

So what you are saying is that the odometer isn't like the ones in the old days, the trucks computer keeps track of the miles, and the cluster is just a display?

This is an old thread, and your post is a bit off-topic. But swapping an '08 cluster into an '03 likely will be an exercise in frustration, if it's even possible. There were likely enough changes between those years that it wouldn't be compatible at all. The clusters are electronic and the only wiring diagrams available are the input circuits.

I think that you will be in for more work than you would even think of.

I'm not sure of when the went from the GEM module to the BCM but that could be one of the problems.

The days of swapping out a old cluster for a newer one are long gone.
