I did a search but got no hits for this brand, Chassis 500 made by Coni-Seal. They advertise a set of 4 BJs (no seals) for $38 on e-bay. They are US company, but have their parts made to their specs in China, Taiwan and Turkey. (Who knows where any of these so-called brand names are built anymore).

Anybody ever tried these, or heard of this company? That's awfully cheap. The Moog set (with seals) is $250. I don't know what a set of seals will cost from dealer.

THANKS

Word of advise. You NEVER want to go cheap on ball joints. Worst spot I can think of to go cheap. These trucks spit ball joints as it is. FOrget about this idea.

Little lesson for you. Im a Mechanical Engineer at a metal stamping fascility in the US. We are a private company, and due to the nature of our business, we are CONSTANTLY competing with the chinese and other over-seas countries. Theres only one way to get parts cheaper, and thats to get cheaper steel. End of story. These countries get steel for pennies on the dollar. Problem, the grade of steel is fu**ing terrible. Worst crap in planet earth. Cheap as dirt.

Another thing. You said "Parts made to their specs". I bet my job they are not to spec, and even if some were, most will not be. A cheap Two-Dollar metal stamper or forger from China is nothing but a sweat shop. You wouldnt believe some of the stuff Ive seen.

Anyway, you gotta understand. THey are not 600% off the price of the normale competitor just cuz there being nice. Its cuz there cheap.

Moog's with seals for$250 is not bad. I definitely would not want to re-replace ball-joints prematurely to save a couple bucks! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

okay, thanks guys. I guess I needed a kick in the arse to wake me up. I'm frugal and try to save wherever I can, within reason. Part of my reasoning for even considering the cheapie was:

1) My original Ford balljoints were replaced at 25K miles, and were worn and sloppy. My current, replacement set has about 60K miles on them, and they've been worn for quite awhile, to the point of destroying my front tires by peeling the edges badly. SO I was thinking, OEM really isn't all that great, how much worse can chinese crap-brand be?

2)In today's global economy, many of the recognized brand names are out-sourcing their manufacturing to China, Mexico; wherever the labor is cheap. Lokk at our PSDs; how much of that has Ford out-sourced to the cheapest bidders? Chances are, even Moog and OEM might be built in China. I figured; what have I got to loose? I considered premature wear a possibility, but not all-out product failure.

Thanks for the link to the McQuay/Norris brand. I saw them aswell on ebay. But when you look at their pictures, they show the same Coni-Seal and Chassis 500 boxes as the cheap $38 guys show. So are they not selling the same product?
