My 05 PSD now has 5,500 miles on it. The other day, I was driving on the freeway at 70mph, and the check engine light came on. Gauges were all reading normal, and truck had about 1/4 tank of fuel. I checked for any problems under the hood and didn't find anyhing unusual. The next morning I was on my way to the dealer to have it checked and I stopped for fuel. Once I restarted the truck, the light was no longer on! A couple of questions: Should I still take it in and have it looked at? Did I have bad diesel (truck was running fine)? The previous day, I drove from sea-level up to about 5,000 feet and back on the same tank of diesel--is it possible a change in pressure caused a problem?

thanks for any advice,

dave

Had the same thing happen to me twice, both times I was low on fuel. The first time I checked the fuel cap and it went off a few minutes later. Yesterday it happened again with 1/4 tank, I changed the fuel cap back to the stock cap, I had a fram locking cap and the light went off after a few minutes.

Thye only way to tell what the check engine light was all about is to have the codes scanned. It would not be for a loose or faulty fuel filler cap since the PSD does not have evaporative emissions controls.
