Need a recommendation on an affordable, basic chip. Not looking to spend anymore than $400.
For my 7.3

You can spend $75 and just get your PCM reburned with one of Jody's tunes... or you can get a chip with 2, 3, 4... up to 16 different files on it.

Yeah a couple of DP Tuner files should come in under $400, you can add more programs later as you can afford it. There is a reburn fee with that I believe, but like these guys have said check out DP Tuner. You won't be disappointed.

I favor Dp-tuner cause thats who im using /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif but there are many more out there.Just give them a call, they will work with you as to what you will need.
i started off with stock,80e and 120r.I had no problem with my stock hpop and the 120r program. The 1/4 mile time in my sig was with the 120r burn with stock trans, stock turbo and stock hpop.

Jody recommended that i get 80 econo, 60tow, and stock. I also got high idle. Total was about 350. I am definitely getting better mileage, my truck is way nicer to drive now, and that idiot that was tailgating me on Blewett pass with his high beams on.....lets just say I dimmed his lights with a heavy dose of throttle and he stayed about a quarter of a mile back for the rest of the trip! I am still laughing 3 days later.

You can list tuners that are not sponsors. Not sure if Tony Wildman, John Wood or Tadd are sponsors are not. They are better than a programmer like SC or Edge. I've had several different programmers and chips with different programing, so far I like Jody's tunes the best, but they were all better than off the shelf stuff.

There are other tuners that are just as good and in some opinions better but cannot be listed because they are not sponsors

Apparently I will have to talk to him again. He and I talked about this very thing two weeks ago at the Nor Cal Diesel rally. I am having timing troubles with my current big oil tunes. He said that Jody had to make changes and email them to him. Then he would burn a chip with that file.

What about the superchips #1705? Anyone out there have this?

1705 maybe for a starter and a code reader all in one.

I prefer Tony Wildman or Total Diesel Performance I believe his chips are $400 shipped. And he doesn't charge to reburn.
