I have read so much about the EGR I thought I would pull that puppy out just to see what it look liked and check to see if it needed cleaning. Real easy to get out. However, I needed to reseat about the last 1/4 inch with mounting bolts even with a little grease "O" rings. Had new "O" rings and gasket but old one looked OK. Reused them. I did noticed a little black soot around EGR before I pulled it. EGR looked fine. Very light soot. Cleaned with some carb cleaner.
Before I pulled it out the Lie-O-Meter said I was getting 15.5 to 16.5 MPG. Now I get 13.5 to 14.5. I have not changed anything else including driving habits. The only big difference is the weather went from the high 60s/low 70s to the low to mid 90s. I have 19,000 miles on the Beast.
Any ideas why I lost about 2 MPG?
Also, anyone know the part # for an EGR valve for a 2004 EX 6.0 PSD CA truck with no CALIBRATION code. I think I'm going for the ZIP tie mod. I looked on the EGR when I had it out and did not see anything that resembled a Ford PN.
