I've looked into it a bit. Studying schematics and what wiring is there. Like Bruce said, you need the interior temp sensor, and you need the SUN sensor, and the ambient air temp sensor that sits behind the grill.
The SUN sensor is a dual sensor element that literally reads how much sunlight there is. One sensor is used for the climate control, the other sensor is used by the automatic headlamps. to tell if you have it, it is a small black hemisphere on a block of dash colored plastic on one of the defrostor vents. To work with the Climate control, it MUST be the one that is installed from the factory. The ones that come with the dealer installed autolamp kit will not work with the auto climate control.
It is a involved install if you do not know your way around wiring.
The ambient air sensor is the same way. it comes off the harness for the Factory installed foglights. It is not in the dealer kit and cannot be retrofitted to the kit. I only works with the correct harness.
The best way to go is to find one at a boneyard, and pull the harnesses. Ford wants over $150 bucks for the factory installed fog light harness new.
