Have an '03 7.3l with 6 speed manual.

Spent the weekend camping, have a 2500# slide-in and towing 6 horses. Never a problem in the 200 mile trip. Got home, unloaded the horses and went to dump the camper septic.

Pulled up to the dump station and couldn't get the truck out of gear and had to stall it to shut it down. Found the clutch pedal stuck to the floor. Was easy to pull up with my toe - but from that point on the pedal seemed rather soft.

I only have 15k on this truck, and seems early for wearing out the clutch, especially since I don't ride it! However, most of the miles on this truck has been towing loads.

Anyone has an idea to what has happened? Anything would be appreciated.

Here is a copy of the post I made earlier which should address your issue:

"Your issues appear to directly related to the clutch hydraulics. Either the master or slave cylinders. The easiest and best solution is to the purchase the Ford pre-bled "kit". Last time I got one it was about $120 or so. To me it's just not worth the hassle of purchasing the pieces and putting it together and trying to get them bled correctly. The kit is pre-assembled, new master and slave cylinder, new reservoir and new hoses. All you have to do is remove the old system and replace it with the new. If you’ve never done one it might take 45 minutes if you are taking your time. I’ve put a couple on my truck and it’s an easy 30 minute job.

Make sure and get a new clutch pedal rod when you get the kit. That will make it even easier. One thing you can check is the clutch pedal rod "bushing". This is a nylon bushing that holds the rod to the pedal. If that bushing is worn out, it can introduce enough play into the system to affect the throw of the pushrod. If you purchase the clutch pushrod, it will come with a new bushing."
