On a recent trip from NY to Indianapolis the clutch pedal went right to the floor board as I was backing my 3axle tag along in to a warehouse in indi. After that I was still able to shift but there was noticably more effort especially going into low. On the return leg of the trip the clutch went alltogether as I hit the Jersey-PA border. from there on it was power shiftin all the way /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/vomit.gif. Once I finally got back to the shop I pulled the master cylinder and opened it up, the rubber valve which closes off the flow to the reservoar when the pedal is depressed was torn. a call to the local ford dealer produced no results regarding a replacement hydraulic assembly so I called my local parts supplier who promptly delivered replacement master and slave cylindes made by Wagner. Re assembling the pieces to the oem line and reservoar was a piece of cake however bleeding the unit was not. Once I got it bled I was wonderfully suprized by the consistency of the engagement point of the clutch. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/warmsmile.gif I had allways had an occasional missed shift and could never understand why? I have driven handshakers for litterally a million miles+ and never had this problem. I had allways figured it was a notchy transmission issue, NOT! it turns out that its a piece of plastic junk that an aftermarket parts company can obviously build better than Ford. The tranny Is now smooth as silk /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/warmsmile.gif. I hope this can help anyone else who is out there scratching their heads like I was. part # are cm134514 for the master and sc134504 for the slave cyl.
