Has anybody put the newer coil-over front suspension on to replace the leaf spring front-end? I'm surprised there is not a company making this available. I guess the only way to do it is the get a wrecked Superduty. I'd love to do this to my early 99.

Can't remember the price off hand but you will need that kit and 2 coilovers of your choice.

What bothers me is that no one has a kit for the stock height truck crowd. All these require 4,6,8, or 10 inches of lift, not everyone wants a lifted truck, some just want the possible better ride and handling. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

that's what i was thinking, it'd be nice to have for a stock or 2" lift set up - probably not enough of a market though

[/ QUOTE ]Exactly, I could live with a 2" lift, but 4" is too much.

Hey coilover converters - one of the main reasons I want to do a conversion is the ATTROCIOUS (sing with me now...OHHH Give me 40 Acres and I'll turn this rig arouuuuuuund....) turning radius on my F350 dualie. Do you get the same reduction with these kits as you have with the newer trucks with coilover fronts? (Good thing TDS doesn't have sound).

You still can only turn till the steering stops on the knuckles hit the axle.

If you want improved turning radius......swap in the front axle/suspension/steering off of a 05-07 truck.

You're right in that the newer trucks do turn really nice.

So the knuckles are not replaced in these kits? The turning radius is the main reason I want the coil over front-end. It's the only thing I dislike about my CC LB. I guess I will have just find a wrecked newer Super Duty. Heck, maybe I can put a dodge 2500 front-end in, those have a great turning radius as well.

Couldn't you also just use one of these kits, and then adjust your steering stops? Or are you guys saying that the entire knuckle design is different?

Pretty much a lot of the front axle is different between 99-04 and 05-07

WMS to WMS is wider on the 05-07 axles.

Not sure what would be the result if you ground down the steering stops to an effort to try and turn more with a 99-04 truck...

If you want a really tight turning radius, you could swap in a super 60 from an '05-'07 f-450 or 550. You would have to get some flares and run 19.5's but it would be really cool and your truck would be one of a kind.

Yep, our 2006 F-450 is a Reg. Cab with a 9' Dump Body on the back...that thing can turn like a car (or at least I think like a car.....long time since I've driven a car /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif )
