connecting cell phone to an Sony radio for auto mute function

Hi, I have a sony radio with a att lead (mute) that i would like to connect my nokia cell phone to in order to auto mute the radio when receiving an incoming call.
I have seen the 160.00 complete nokia car kits but i was wondering if there was an easier (less expensive) way to connect the phone to the radio like via the headset plug or one wire ? off the USB data cable i already have.

I don't know too much about how the Sony works but Pioneer has a device that you connect to the att lead that mutes the radio when it senses an incoming cellular call. It retails for $35.

I know that the lead off the Nokia is a ground trigger... When the phone is in the handsfree kit and it rings the kit sends a ground to the radio and tell it to mute... I have my nokia H/F hooked up to the factory radio and it works like a champ...
