for long rides on the highway I would like to install a converter lock up on my 5R110W. When I release the accelerator pedal only slightly on my 2006 F350 6.0, it immediately shifts from OD to 5th gear. Then it increases the engine speed and shifts back to OD. This is very annoying. Is there a solution that only works from 3rd gear up? How did you implement a converter lock up?

Have a tuner for the truck? My Innovative tunes keep the converter locked until speeds slow. I agree with you, the in/out of over drive is annoying.

Oh and $75 seems like a lot for a switch and some wire. Keep searching, I remember reading about grounding a wire somewhere that will lock the converter.

that's a good solution. I have a gearhead tune on it.
I have already asked there, unfortunately still no answer received.

I can't stand it anymore!!!!!!!

Are we talking about the torque converter unlocking and relocking, or shifting in and out of overdrive? They are two separate things. The torque converter locking is NOT overdrive. Fifth gear is overdrive.

I suspect this thread is about the torque converter locking and unlocking as you release and reapply the go pedal. The best way to fix this is with a custom tune. The programming can easily be changed by a tuner to keep the converter locked with the go pedal fully released and the trans in the upper gears. I tried to do this in production when I was developing the production tunes, but was shot down by manglement.

Sorry Mark, I know this subject is close to heart and I’ve appreciated your knowledge over the years.

You are correct, I misspoke and do in fact mean the torque converter. (Limping away with my tail between my legs)

Sorry, Mark, I probably didn't express myself right. It may well be I am not using the right terms with my bad English. I try to describe it again: I drive a 2006 F350 6.0 with the 5R110W. Converted to a camper with 6.5 metric tons weight. If I drive down the highway in the largest gear and release briefly the accelerator pedal, disappears immediately the marked lock on the picture. If I press lightly the accelerator pedal again a few seconds later, the engine turns up a bit and then shifts up a gear. The lock reappears. That's exactly what I want to avoid. The trans shouldn't shift down when I release the accelerator pedal/should stay in gear and the speed remains almost constant.
I received now 2 tunes from Gearhead a few minutes ago. I will test them now.
Greetings from Germany

Your English is far better than my Deutsch!

You are exactly describing the torque converter clutch releasing and reapplying. I tried to prevent this from happening with the stock program, but I wasn't allowed to that. Management (I like to call them Manglement!) wouldn't allow it. It can cause a harsh feel when applying and/or releasing the accelerator pedal.

A custom tune is the best way to fix this.

Thank you, I'll report.

Can the VGT Turbo in 6.0 also be controlled/programmed in such a way, that downhill a better braking performance is achieved? This is my second wish which I would like to have realized in my camper.
