My truck was built in Feb 03. I just replaced the coolant, t-stat, upper/lower hoses 3 weeks ago. Truck has 76k on it.

Hoses & T-stat were in good shape, I just thought while I'm at it I may as well do it. 4gal of Zerex G-05 & distilled water.

Just did it recently (95k).
Use distilled water and the Zerex G-05.
There's a good flush procedure that I recommend posted somewhere on this site.

Is the Zerex coolant some good stuff?I see both replies have used it so far.I was going to use the Motorcraft Gold, but if this stuff is better than I'll go w/ it instead.

I prefer the Fleetguard (Cummins) or the Fleetrite (International). Both coolants are designed specifically for diesel engines. There's nothing wrong with the Gold, it's just that the two mentioned above are better...IMHO.

No, you really don't. I did it cause it was 5+ years old & thought as long as I was doing coolant, I may as well do hoses and t-stat too. I probably didn't need to after looking at what I took off.

To get at the T-stat & lower hose, I had to take out the battery, the air intake ass'y, CAC, and a fuel line.
