Anything special involved with this? Which coolant should I put back in - Ford Gold? Is there a suitable substitute?

Thanks in advance.

I'd run a more robust, heavy-duty coolant like International, who made the engine, recommends. Delo ELC comes to mind. It has a 750K mile/8-year life. 1M miles if you add an extender at 500K miles.

Make sure you do a complete flush (radiator, block, heater core, etc.).

Why am I flushing? Because it has 100600 miles. The manual recommends changing the coolant at 105000 miles. I'm just getting ready to do it.

Gooch - thanks for the info. I plan on draining and filling at least three times and getting it to normal operating temps each flush.

gottcha !

I just had to dump mine because of the rub mark in
the lower radiator hose...54k miles /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif i caught it all
and measured what i got (4gallons)...course thats hardly what
i would call a full flush but w/ 50k on it i didnt feel it
was necessary to flush the system (im also running a coolant
filter)
