Hey there,
I'm not sure if my mind is playing tricks on me or not...
I'm wondering if my truck is consuming a little coolant. I can't see any physical signs of leakage and I did an engine oil sample which tested negative for glycol. Yet I am quite sure that the level has dropped in the past while.
I did top off the reservior level a few weeks back, unfortunately it was at the dealership and the engine was warm. Now when it is cold and parked it seems that the level is lower than when the engine runs. Right now (parked and cold engine) the level is below the MIN line. Is mild coolant consumption "normal" for these engines? Is there a real good way to test if I am loosing coolant?
Thanks in advance!!

I've never added any to mine. I ran the original coolant about 50,000 and the stuff in there now has about 11,000 on it.

Check the weep hole in your water pump. I noticed a drop in coolant levels before the leak became noticeable and started to leave track in my driveway.

Also check the back of the degas bottle right below the cap where the to pieces are joined together. This seems to be a commom area for very small cracks. I was in the same situation as you and this is where I found my problem.

Turned out to be a pinhole in the water pump. Dealer replaced it on warranty! Less than a month left on engine warranty... phew!!!
