yesterday pulling 4k with my 05 6.0 for the first time i had a delta of 7to10* around town stop and go traffic.Once i got to a 1/4 mile long farley steep grade i got an ECT of 200-208 and a EOT of up to 218*at one point my delta was over 15*. Normal delta is around 7-10* empty no flat areas in NH.Now last weekend i did a coolant flush on a motor with 8k on it just wanted to put elc EC-1 coolant in for sure.When i got to my house i popped the hood to notice my coolant resi was chuck full.Also what temp should my fan come on at?Thanks for all the help.

On the '05 when the engine is cold the coolant level should be at the Minimum mark on the degas bottle.

As far as when the fan kicks in somebody else will have to chime in with that info. IIRC it's 220° but I may be wrong. Mine has never kicked in since I don't pull anything.

My truck is what is commonly known as and referred to as a "Grocery Getter" LOL.

when i filled it back up with coolant after the flush i filled it to the min mark which is the max mark on the new sticker the dealer put on when they changed the motor.Now after i filled it i drove it abit and i noticed it waas alittle low so i topped it off again.Could it be overfilled.After driving to work this morning 17miles i parked it and popped the hood and noticed the coolant wqas alittle over the max line on the sticker also but got normal temps with a 7-10* delta on my way in.

I pull a 14k 5er and i can tell you the fan comes on at 212* on my Edge Insight and the time to check the coolant is when it is cold the new full old cold add mark. After my coolant flush my temps are ECT 194* EOT 197* have not pulled after the flush but before the flush the highest i have had is ECT 218* EOT 228* pulling a 6% grade 6 miles long at 90* outside and my fan was on.

2stroker educate me on what that trucooler is in your signature please.Also just taled to a ford tech and he advised me i probably had an air bubble since i just did the flush a week ago.

The TruCool trans cooler is a plated oil cooler when the trans oil is cold it goes in and right out as the oil gets warmer it takes up more of the cooler to keep it at the right temp because cold oil is bad also once you are up to temp the whole cooler is cooling the oil works great. You could have a bubble but it should work it's way out in time just keep your eye on it.

awsome thanks yeah im gonna watch it he is the same tech that installed the new motor and he told me it came with a new oil cooler and egr cooler also.he also said the fan should kick in at around 220ish so im gonnawatch for that also.im headed to northern Nh with my camper for the first time with this truck and im just alittle over cautious about it i guess.

Yes i know what you mean my 97 is bullet proof the only thing it does not have the power to pull like my 06 but MT i think it is quicker and mpg are about the same it's a grocery getter now about the only time my 06 runs is when it is pulling i have it on a Battery Tender Plus to keep them a 100% but when i do take it out i give it a good work out don't want the turbo to rust up on me:lol:
