I have a 2004 Harley Diesel. It has been towed three times in a little over a year. The Ford Dealer very near Waldorf MD is horrible. Had the truck for 5 days and did nothing. I called Ford Customer Service 5 times. They did nothing. I spoke with a person at The Ford Priority Response team and they did nothing. I finally took my truck away from the Ford Dealer very near Waldorf MD and had it towed to the Ford Dealer near Suitland MD and they repaired it in less than 24 hours. On top of the repair, they also did the 15000 mile service. And they claim my satisfaction is their number 1 desire. Has anyone else had similar problems?

Things have slowed appreciably in our area.... I'm currently only booked a week and a half in advance. That's down from the 3+ weeks I was booked for in Feb/Mar... I can understand your frustration, but your poll is a wee bit lopsided and will prove absolutely nothing.

FWIW, many of us spend way too much time at work trying to get customers vehicles out the door and back on the road - not sure if this is true at any of the dealers you visit - and our families are, generally, unappreciative of our efforts.

Thank you all. I apologize for the poll as I didn't even want one but this is my first post and just followed the choices. The reason for a forum is to vent, request assistance, give accolades, etc... I agree with Grampy_Jim,sorta. As you can see from my post, I gave great accolades to the Dealer near Suitland MD. My issue comes with a person or persons giving me their word and it proves empty. I own my own small business and if I gave Service and Customer Support like Ford does, I would go out of business, very quickly.

As a business owner you should know that if your treated that way you will go somewhere else. Sure it may be a pain to go to another dealer but when you find a good dealer its well worth the trip. My local dealer was a buttwipe but it only took one time for me to decied to find another dealer.Glad to hear you did find a good one but do like I did and be sure to tell everyone you know about the bad one . Word of mouth can be a killer good or bad. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif Remember just because it says FORD on the sign out front doesn't mean they are all the same on the inside. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Like I'd mentioned... I'm currently a week and a half behind. That means most customers will be waiting at least ten days before I even get close to their truck..... I am truly sorry that this state of affairs exists but there is little else I can do about it...

I have to add that there are customers I WILL work evenings to get on the road - there are customers I refuse to extend the effort to - and there are customers that MIGHT have the extra effort from... It shouldn't be hard to guess how I base my personal decisions (and no, it has nothing to do with tips and everything to do with interaction).

By the same token, some dealerships have a service department because they are told to have one while other dealerships use their service department as a tool to make the buying/owning experience as pleasant as possible. If you have employees, you can appreciate the difference in business ethic...

I am happy with my local dealer's Ford service.

I've never met any of the actual technicians; I have only dealt with my service advisor. I like the service advisor and think he does me right; I think he knows his job well. There is a wall plastered with certificates for all the technicians in the customer area; I think they have qualified people. I have been happy with the finished work.

I also do appreciate the information and insight that Grampy Jim and his peers share on this forum. It is hard to top the experience of those who work on these engines daily.

Interesting comment there, please do not take my question wrong here:

Do you folks tip the service guys?

And why or why not?

And yes, I'm a service guy in a different field... And I do NOT accept tips when offered... I'm just doing my job /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The only reason I am driving a 6.0L today is because of the Service Department (tech,s/representatives/manager) and the Sale Manager at my dealership. When my original 6.0 went belly up, thier support, and efforts to get it bought back, the supplment of a full size truck while I waited, and every visit for service since has been a pleasure. FMC customer relations work off a script, they are mere employees, they have to answer to, and request priviledges from higher ups, so do not be critical of the guy on the phone, go after his supervisor(s).

I was unhappy with my '04 F-350, but - I have nothing but good to say with the 3 dealers I had work on it. The most serious thing I had done was injector replacement though (6 times), so can't speak to more major repairs.

Sunrise Ford in Fontana, CA - in and out, and the time the EBP went out, I was in and out in an hour.

Blue Lakes Ford in Twin Falls, ID - pulled in at 9:00 a.m. with a bad injector, was on the road by 4:00 p.m.

Friendly Ford, Las Vegas - lost an injector (the last straw), they didn't have one in stock but got me on the road in 18 hours.

I have nothing but positive things to say about the techs and dealers that have worked on my rig. Only complaint was - the truck shouldn't have needed to be there.

The '06 has 12000 miles, not a single problem.....knock on wood.

Maybe I'm lucky, but my experience with the dealers has been excellent.

I think it has to do more with a Dealership. The dealership closest to me is where I bought my 2000 7.3 and it was a horrible experience.
When I bought my 04 6.0 I drove an hour away to another dealer and got top notch service and I bring it back there for service. You need to find a dealership that respects there customers.

Just drove 2800 miles in two weeks on vacation towing 15,500 lb fifth-wheel. Two blocks from home, on Friday, injector went out. Called Rich Ford 8:30 Sat to pick up the truck thinking at least two weeks in the shop since Rich Ford use to be the worst service department in Albuquerque. But, I have to admit things change. Rich Ford called at 1:45pm and said truck was ready with 2 injectors replaced, the latest emissions flash, and a check of all other systems. I was just about speechless. I have to go back next week to talk to the fleet manager, so while I am there I plan on at least buying the tech lunch.

I had bought a new lariat CC 4x4 in jan. of 03. I really liked the truck, rode great and was comfortable, but after several failed attempts at the selling dealer and other local dealers to resolve issues such as vibration after reflash and A/C not cold, I decided to take it to World Ford in Pembroke Pines, Fl. The fuel injectors(all) were replaced by a master certified diesel tech and I was given a loaner car paid for by the dealer. I thought it was well worth the 300 mile round trip. Shortly thereafter, the rear main was leaking, I took it back to world ford and the same tech replaced the seal and performed some TSB for the vibration caused by one of the reflashes. he noted on the RO, " TSB performed, problem still exists , Ford has no fix for this concern at this time". Again I was given a loaner at N/C while they had my truck. When I picked it up, I thanked the tech and bought him lunch. Shortly thereafter, when I changed the oil, I pulled off the rubber dustcover and saw oil slung aroung the flywheel in addition to the "drip". I initiated LL paperwork in July 0f 04 , and in December, returned the truck to the selling dealer and received my refund check. What made my day was when the Service Manager of the selling dealership came out to greet me. When I previously showed him the truck, the vibration and the oil leak, he stated" yeah it leaks and I feel the vibration, but it's not that bad" When the GM called me to advise he had my refund check and come in to turn in the truck, the SM was there and I told him,"It leaks, and vibrates and the A/c's not cold, but it's not that bad, you can park this truck where the sun don't shine" Getting my check and leaving the truck, priceless.
