K wanting to verify my problem before I go deal with Ford.... I think its my Cam Position Sensor... when I shift if i don't press on the accelerator before I fully release the clutch the accelerator won't respond. I get no rev. Also if I am driving say in 5th and let fully off the pedal then go to accelerate I get no response. I have to clutch in and press the pedal before its fully released. It doesn't happen all the time and only happens whenever the pedal is fully released. Last time I had intermittent problems like this it was the CPS and now the are under recall....

This doesn't sound at all like my experience with a failing CPS, or for that matter most of the other symptoms I've read about....The CPS failures were more intermittent, merely driving down the road the truck would briefly stall, for example, or idling, or in any gear, or at any throttle position.

IMHO this sounds like an accelerator issue. Perhaps the sensor on the pedal is flaky or one of the wires from the pedal is shorting or making poor contact?

Remember, our accelerators are "drive by wire", there's no cable. A sensor on the side of the pedal measures the pedal position and that information is delivered to the PCM, which regulates the engine accordingly.

The fact that it seems to be associated with clutch movement...look carefully at the wires coming from the pedal up past the clutch pedalbox assembly. Maybe the linkage is pinching or pulling a wire.

Sounds like your TPS is the culprit. Check the bushings in the pedal assembly and fuel pedal.

Ya I played with the wires before making a coffee run to finish off the night and it seems to be fine... The wires coming into the sensor on the pedal seem to be a little loose. When my CPS went out last time it was a similar feeling... but i was doing 75mph down i275 and it just shutdown when it finally failed...

BTW with the recall will Ford give you the CPS or do they have to install it? I want a spare! But I dont want them to touch my truck.

If you need to replace the throttle pedal sensor

DORMAN

makes a replacement that is far cheaper than what you can buy at the stealership.

Their part number is 699-200 for the 96-97 PSD. Costs $59.00

Check NAPA, AutoZone, etc
