Got a problem with my brakes - hopefully you guys can help. First off, it's the truck in my sig. Within the past year I have changed the following in my brake system: Vacuum pump, front calipers, brake lines, slotted rotors, hawk pads, and brake booster about 4 or 5 months ago. Just recently (about 3 weeks ago) I began to have issues with my brake pedal being sucked to the floor when I barely touched the brakes. This would automatically lock up the brakes. It was so forceful that I would have to take my truck out of gear and hold the back of the brake pedal with my clutch foot and apply the brake with my brake foot to keep the truck from coming to a screeching hault - not safe. I drive a big rig for a living, so I left the truck with a garage I used to work at for them to diagnose and fix the problem while I was away these past two weeks. They have replaced everything again, including a new master cylinder with no fix at all. The whole system bleeds out just fine, so I would think the proportioning valve is OK as well. Any suggestions as to what to check next? Thanks for any and all input. I've got to get this truck back on the road so I can go pick up an IH travelette for a buddy this weekend. Anybody have issues like this before?

Did you replace the power booster yet? I had one go bad before and it caused some odd problems with my brakes. Just a thought.

Do all wheels want to lock up or just one.
I had problems when you get oil on the rear shoes. Just tap on brakes and it would lock up. I have had this problem on big trucks as well. Shoes get some oil on them and they lock up at the tap of the pedal.

Well, I think the problem has been fixed. To answer your above questions, the booster was replaced about 4 months ago, and all the brakes lock up. It turns out that both boosters that were installed were faulty. The first one that was replaced about 4 months ago evidently got water in it and froze up, thus causing the extreme vacuum. Now it turns out that the booster that they replaced it with was not sealed properly via the mounting bolts causing a similar issue. The guys at the shop are now on #3, so we'll see what comes of it. It also seems that I have another issue as evidenced in the first replacement booster: a leak in the firewall area around the brake booster. I get home Thursday, so we'll see what happens - hopefully it'll be fixed. Thanks for the input fellas!!
