Does any body else notice this, when I set the cruise and I need the power it comes on way to late and over compensates, forces a down shift takes off then over shoots the target speed. Then it really backs off and basically does the whole thing over and over.

It is not too bad on the flat obviously but when you get in the hills the people following must get ripped right off.

Is there any way to adjust this or is at bad sensor or something? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

They do suck!

Watch your tach, though the mph's are all over the board, the rpm's remain constant.

Well that makes sense,
my other post is about my ABS light being on all of the time, maybe there is a link.

Could you do some probing for me and find out what the replacement part is?

I have an "02 F150 4.2V6 and an '04 350 6.0. The cruise control is the same Brain Dead piece of S__T on both of them. Like you said, comes on way too late, overcompensates, and on my 150 will actually force a downshift to 2nd at 110Kph causing the revs to peg at red line and truck to slow down, not speed up. The programmers that wrote the software for Ford's Cruise control should all be fired and a bunch of 12 year old kids hired to replace them. I'm sure they would do a better job.

My cruise holds well on the flats and uphills, cuts off on the downhills, drops 4 mph, downshifts, races 4 past the set point, and eventually levels out. Two dealers and area rep have said it is the tires - baloney. The opposite would occur, plus it did it with stock 265's on it. Many trips to the shop and they just /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif.

I just did a 250 mile trip and it downshifted once. I marveled that it would come back up to speed without shifting.

Some times tuners and go fast boxes goof up the cruise.

ad another to the list. slows way down going down a hill and doesnt pick up the power till you are already well into the next hill and have already lost your momentum. if its hilly terrain i just run the pedal, especially pulling a trailer.

Stock or with the SCT it does the same thing.

The thing that bugs me is it has never been this bad an any of my past trucks. (see sig.)

There must be a sensor that is giving a delayed signal.

Mine does the same thing, except no ABS light. On top of all that the stupid torque converter unlocks going down hill, then the thing has to rev the engine before it will relock the converter. By comparison my wifes 04 Toyota van with 5 speed auto is nowhere near as bad. The problems are annoying unloaded, but when hooked up to my 28' travel trailer I don't use cruise at all, it just shifts and revs all day long. Do any of the tuners offer a program to keep the converter locked? I think this is one of the causes of my transmission problems. I live in the foot hills and am always climbing or decending hills.... lock, unlock, lock, unlock... enough to drive a guy crazy.
