Hello all. I was wondering if you guys like your cruise control on these model trucks (93 auto) i've never enjoyed using mine because of a mild surging feeling. it's not terrible just enough to bug me. it does it pulling my 5er and unloaded, i've never had a car feel this way on cruise control. but this is my first diesel truck i was wondering if it is normal or adjustable ? thanks

Check the cable for binding or need of some light lube.

thanks I'll check the cable, does your cc feel smooth like a car? it's kinda hard to dicsribe, the truck seems to increase in speed 1/2 mile per hour then slowup 1/2 then up again it never settles down to a even steady rpm. anyway thanks for the reply.

Mine works like a charm........ but using cruise towing a heavy load is not good. Most times Ford advises not to use OD when towing large or the trans will not be happy. If the trans is hunting for a gear continually do not use OD/cruise. If you want the manual on the cruise PM me an email addy......

h jorr,

Did you get you cruise control problem figured out? I think I have the exact same problem. I have a 92 or 93 IDI 7.3, e40d. It seems like it speeds up and slows down maybe 1/2 a mph every couple of seconds or so. I can feel the fuel pedal going up and down under my foot. Can't be good for fuel economy and is annoying. The only time I drive it is on long trips, would love to have cruise control.

DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION for 93 Speed control

The speed control system is designed to automatically maintain vehicle speed at any driver-selected speed above approximately 30 mph and below approximately 125 mph. The system is comprised of an electronic servo which consists of a throttle actuator with integrated electronics and other parts including an actuator cable, horn relay, driver control switches, a brake lamp switch and a deactivator switch. The speed signal is generated by the Programmable Speedometer/Odometer Module (PSOM). The electronic servo is mounted in the engine compartment and is connected to the throttle linkage with an actuator cable.
