I did it on mine. I don't know if it really did much on performance, supposedly it helps reduce temps a little, I didn't notice anything. It did get a little louder. I liked that.

Do you have inspection on your truck? If so, make sure you replace it with another muffler (high flow version).

If you don't, then straight pipe away!

I did this just about 2 months ago. In the cold morning it sounds like a jet engine till it warms up and then has a nice sound. You will hear the Turbo wine more out the pipe and that's cool too. If you do the DIY Tymar Air Intake Mod you will notice the the EGT will be less and if you can stay out of the go pedal you may see an increase in fuel mpg. I am now doing about the same on winter fuel as I was on summer fuel which is about 18 mpg. Can't wait to see what it does on Summer fuel with the changes. Go for it you will love it. Also you lose abut 30 lbs of muffler, which can't hurt.

The beauty of this mod is that the truck isn't to loud inside the cab, had mine done and didnt even notice a difference with the windows up, with windows down when you get on it hard you can deffinatly tell a difference but it sounds so cool

I put a BTM on mine a couple of years ago and love it. It's a straight through muffler, but sounds great and does help the exhaust get out easier. Sounds very powerful!

Anyone use flexible exhaust pipe for their replacement?

buddy of mine used flexpipe but it kept sagging...I had my muffler cut off, and a piece of pipe welded in. 5" tip and the pipe welded in, was $140 bucks.

Doesn't someone make a muffler delete pipe that bolts in place of the muffler?

Mufflers do nothing for emissions, I got a 4" Turbo-back Diamond Eye system, You can see straight through the muffler, It does have a bunch of little "louvers" inside, You can install it with the opening in the louver either forward or aft. If the opening is forward you get a quieter sound, if facing aft it is like a straight pipe, with a little less cackle.

Be careful. I asked this same exact question a few years ago, got the same answers and $80, I had absolutely no change in sound or performance. Turns out my truck has a cat from the factory. Cats almost do more for sound then the muffler.

I ended up getting and MBRP with a muffler and absolutely love it. Should put the $80 into the full exhaust from the start.
