Once the cluster bezel is off the dash, you can see the headlight switch connector, and remove the steel plate that holds the switch in the dash. With it out, you should be able to see if the connector's plastic shell is cooked from a failing terminal, which is relatively common on these trucks. It will look similar to this:
If it's not horrible, it can be cleaned with a fine fingernail board, re-crimped with jeweler's needle-nose pliers, and all the harness terminals can be transferred to a new (aftermarket) connector shell. If the switch terminals are ruined, only THEN would I look for a new headlight switch. After repairing it, apply ELECTRICAL grease (not DIelectric, thermal, or chassis grease) to each terminal.
