just a quick newb question.
had a vehicle parked for about 6 years. drove in fine when we put it there.
decided to start it back up, which it did flawlessly, BUT the clutch pedal is dead. i can start it in neutral but have no way of putting it into gear.

just a basic question here. what should i check. ive never had this problem.

am i looking at a clutch cable possibly? i dont know what could cause this after just sitting.

thanks for any wisdom. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/phoney.gif

You don't tell us what kind of truck it is, only that it's at least six years old. Assuming it's an OBS truck, and assuming the OBS trucks are no different from the 00 up, then you don't have a cable at all. The clutch is a "wet clutch" and uses hydraulics. Likely all you're fluid leaked out over the six years you parked it. You can get an entirely new assembly, pre-bleed, for around $150 or less, or you can pour fluid in the reservoir and try to bleed it.

check the fluids first... Could be a bad slave/master cylinder. Slave/master cylinder assembly from the dealer is under $200 on my truck. Probably about the same for you. Details on the vehicle would help

I had a clutch lock op after sitting for about 2 years, I started it in firstgear and drove it for almost a mile with the clutck pushed in before it freed it's self.

A 94 Hyundai? OK, if the rubber pad on the clutch pedal is worn down then you will need to scrap the car as the replacement pad for pedal exceeds the value of the car. IT IS TOTALLED!!

LMAO. Actually fill the clutch cylinder, bleed it, either with a bleeder on the slave, or by loosening the line. Should be good.
