I have a 05x 6.0 4x4 with 33000miles. Has anyone experinced a throttle pedal that goes down done and nothing happens? this has happed 4 time in the last month, when I tell the dealer he just gives me a dumb look. If you get back out of the trottle it picks up and goes like normal. I NEED HELP /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

my 05 is doing the same thing when in slow moving traffic. I have had it ahppen 4-5 times and as you said normally just tap the pedal a few times and it continues to work as supposed to......I havent talked with the dealer about it but it seemed from people on here and Fordtruck forums that it was minor.

The 6.0 has been programed to prevent overfueling, and belching black smoke on take off. If you try to mash the go pedal, the computer thinks its getting too much fuel before it gets enough air, and will ignore the input util the boost catches up.

If you live in a high traffic area where you need to launch into dense traffic, you will need to either power break, or build a bit of boost & feather the throttle before jumping in.

I'm sure this is going to be the case on all future diesels no matter who manufactures them. If you want to sell a diesel in the US you will have to meeet new, stricter air quality standards, AND BLACK SMOKE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE in the new regs. It would not surprise me to see states passing laws fining smokers in the near future.

That would make sense, but on all ocasions I was not mashing the throttle, I was driving normal, I do drive a oval track car so driving normal is hard for me.
On all ocasions it has happend when I did not try to race someone off the line. It has happened when I take it easy.

My truck does the same things when I have extreme temp changes--most often from cool to hot. We get this most often during the summer, when it's in the 50's at night and 80's+ during the day.

Because the fuel tank is a closed system (another pollution control item), temperature changes can cause a "vacuum" in the tank. The truck will behave as if it has vapor-lock. This will more likely happen when the tank is below half full.

The simple solution is to remove the fuel tank cap and let the pressure equalize. Sometimes you will hear the rush of air as the pressure in the tank equalizes with the pressure outside. You can then immediately replace the fuel cap and the truck should throttle as expected.

this happened to my truck, finally the pedal stayed dead, towed in and dealer re did computer. Asked what caused it and was told sometimes computers needed re flashing. Pedal started to act up again 2 weeks later, took it to another dealer. They replaced throttle pedal assembly. Said it happens enough they keep a few in stock. They thought a bad batch may have gotten onto our trucks.
