Detroit Diesel (60 Series) with oil in the coolant reservoir

I have a 2005 Freightliner Columbia 120 day cab with a 14.0L 60 series Detroit Diesel, backed by a 10 speed.

Truck has around 533K on it, but sees alot of city/in town driving.

I had our mechanic look at it and he suspects pitting in the sleeves that would cause this (suggesting a rebuild). I suppose he is referring to cavitation pitting?

Just looking for a second opinion as the shops around here pretty much wont give me feedback, which is quite frustrating.

Oil on the dipstick and fill tube appears fine, just the coolant looks like a slimy sludge.

I have attached what few pictures I could take.

Gone Fishen, would you have any insight? You seem to be the resident Detroit member. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
