I searched and read MANY posts on HIDs & lighting in general. Now my head is spinning. I have an '05 F350 dually, 4x4. I don't know what kind of lights i have now. They are factory. How would i know if they're HID??

Anyways, a local distributor claims to clone the Hella system or technology. I know they are from Hong Kong (but don't fool yourself, lot's of brand name stuff is private labelled from China). this kit comes with ballasts and wiring harness; everything, for around $100 US ($130 Cdn). They claim to be 3X brighter. They are:

"Velocitygetter hid xenon headlamp conversion kit for all vehicles using h13 headlamp bulbs. Includes two bulbs, ballasts, and wiring harnesses. " You can search velocitygetter website for info.

So after doing several searches about HID in general, it seems some people say the bulbs melt, some say there is no low beam and it's too bright and blinds other drivers. Some say the headlight enclosure isn't designed for HID lights, so the light isn't reflcted or directed properly.

I'm just getting to the age of needing better night vision and I want to improve my lighting. I'm not looking for a bling-bling look, just better, brighter night lights. something like stadium lighting would be perfect!

I was thinking of the 6000K set up, as that's what seems to be recommended on these forums. Should i consider some other lighting option, or different lumen of bulb?

THANKS for helping yet another thread on this topic.

Hella and every Hid manufacture will not make a Hid kit for retrofitting any vehicle's headlight housing. Reason Hids take specally designed housings to correctly focus the light.

The H13-9008 is quite possibly the stupidest design for a bulb ever foisted on the public. The terminals are so small that they overheat, even at stock wattages, and melt the plastic housing of the connectors. Higher than stock wattage bulbs are offered, but not recommended as yet no one makes a quality ...ie not made in China replacement connector.

IMO swap yours with someone ..03-04 that wants the "new" look

your 99 used 9007 as did all from 95-04
I don't know if you can use 04 earlier housings if you could.....you then could use 9007 replacement bulbs like Hella 80/100w 4k Kelvins, you would need to change your bulb socket..just 1 to a 9007 style and add a harness to use the Hella bulbs or both sockets to use stock wattage 9007's

Find the retrosolutions kits off ebay. They are plug and play with upgraded harness and plugs that match your truck. They have high and low beam 55 watt kits avalible. You will be very happy with them. 6000k is what I have...
