I don’t do much measuring larger than a micrometer. When I do, it’s AWOL. Usually, something like, I had to use it in the basement , left it on the bench down there and forgot that I used it down there when I need it.
I gave up buying reading glasses by the pair at the pharmacy. I now get a box of about a dozen from Amazon. I’m always breaking and loosing them.

Distances are difficult to accurately pinpoint when the tape measure is AWOL.
I need to put one of those electronic key finders on mine. Mine goes AWOL and I’m searching the shop wasting time and I find it inside.

I wish I had all the money I spent on Starrett measuring tools. Back in the day, you had to pay up for that stuff and they were the bomb. Today, you can get that stuff way way cheaper.
