Posting for a friend who has a 05 f250 6.0 5 speed. He just bought it used and 2 weeks started having this issue. Everything is fine until he puts it in gear, and touches the go pedal. Motor just dies. He can put in neutral, and throttle works fine. Said it happens more when the motor is warm. He tricked it by reving the motor a little then putting in gear. But that is not good S O P. Any Ideas? I have a 7.3 and never heard of this. So please help.

Does it die when putting it into all the gear ranges or is it limited to certain ones?

Any codes present?

Does revving the engine up and placing it into gear result in normal operation, a harsh gear engagement, or a severe enagement that nearly kills the truck anyway?

I would think that the torque convertor clutch is being applied when it shouldn't be, but some engine issues can cause this too...
