diesel fuel additives-need or not?

One of the mechanics at the local Ford dealer told me the 6.0 diesel doesn't require additives to the fuel as long as the
fuel is good. (Quality) Is this true?

I think the simple answer is No, it does not require additives, but yes they can be a benefit.

With the egr valve being pone too cakeing with soot, I think any non alcohol product that reduces soot is probably a good idea, but not neccessity..

i run a full bottle of diesel kleen in 1 tank at every oil change. prolly doesnt do much, but i like to think it helps...

I run at lesat 16oz in every tank. I think my engine runs quieter and stronger. If nothing else, I'm hoping it keeps my replugged EGR valve clean.

i run diesel service in my truck. I think ford actually recomends it in the owners manual. Not the reason i run it though. I think it runs better. Mainly in the winter. If anything is peice of mind "thinking" I am taking better care of my truck...
