Im flying to dallas to get my dream truck tomorrow. 2004 4x4 crew cab f-350, with a 6.0 powerstroke. it has 34,000 miles on it. im driving it back to illinois. what should i be concerned about or question? i allready ran a carfax and an oasis and it all checks out okay. i cant wait to get this thing, hope the 900 mile trip will be trouble free!

I assume from a dealer. Can they document the oil changes, fuel filter changes (2 min.), and transmission service (1 min)?

Check it over throughly, by the time you make it back to Illinois you will have 1200 miles left on warranty assuming the time has not already expired.

Find out if it is 03/04 meaning 2003 engine model in a 2004 truck. The 03 engines had a lot of injector problems. It think Oct 2003 was the cutoff for the 04 engine swap. Someone should be able to provide the details.

****UPDATE****

Well i flew out to dallas wed morn, i got to the dealer by 10, paid and hit the road by 11(am). i logged 987 miles in rain, construction, tornadoes (yea 2!!!), and a host of other fun stuff in just under 15 hours. this thing did not even hiccup! i am in love with this thing! i was lucky enough to get a ford premium care 7/100k esp with a 100$ deduct as well!

i only used 2 tanks of gas and had some left over to boot! the only bad...i broke the drivers side towing mirror in a sleepy miss-judge. and the truck is a little sluggish for me at acceleration and around 60-80. just have to get used to it i guess.

Post in the forsale section, maybe somebody has an extra mirror they want to sell. Check you local bone yards maybe you can get just the outer shell.
