I would expect on this site that you will get diesel as the answer, but I am tending toward the 7.3/4.30 ratio gasser early next year. I think that the weight and profile of what you tow is a big factor to consider. The 10 speed of new vs. the 4 speed of old is also a big factor...I can only imagine how a 10 speed behind my 7.3 diesel would change the experience immensely.

OP, I would check out another forum, like ford-trucks. They cover all the bases, not just diesels. This debate rages on over there as well. I am tending toward the KISS principle after participating on that site...

Okay guys, nothing new here. You either need a diesel or you don't. If I towed heavy a lot, I would have considered another diesel, but I don't. You have to pay to play.
I do have the new 7.3 w/4.30s on order. Now if I could squeeze the 10 speed into my Y2k, the only issue would be the noise level...people nowadays freak out on the old 7.3, wimps!
