I have a early 99 F250 7.3 powerstroke and i noticed that I have different yoke design on the rear. Its a strap yoke design and other f250's that i have look at have a flange yoke design.

I was wondering if i could take a newer diff with a flange yoke design and take it off and put my strap yoke on it or are the pinions splines different and/or the pinions themselves are different?

My guess would be that the pinions are the same. If you do change the yokes, you'll need to pay attention to the preload on the pinion bearing, as the SRW axle used a crush sleeve for bearing preload. You need to record the original rotating torque with an inch-lb torque wrench, and measure the rotating torque as you tighten the pinion nut till it's slightly more than the original. IIRC you need to add 15 inch-lb to the original reading.
