I am looking for info on a DIY fuel system. I can't get my hands on an ITP regulated return so I am looking to do something myself. I would like some insight?

Can I just "T" off the fuel bowl and feed both ends of the fuel rails to make sure fuel is always available? Disadvantages?

What is the advantage of using a fuel regulator versus no regulator?

Help me out here, working on my truck keeps me in tune with it's feelings. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Stealth pumps going in after Memorial weekend and I want to do the fuel system while I have the truck torn apart.

i think having a return would be better than feeding from both ends. if you really don't want to spend a lot, i would just leave the stock system, buy a regulator and gauge, and open up the test ports and return them to the regulator. you could then use an ITP fuel bowl fitting, or cap off the stock return fitting and just hook the regulator return line straight to the stock return.
if you want to build your own kit, it's actually pretty simple. the two feed ports and two test ports are tapped 1/8 NPT. basically just decide what size hose and what regulator you want, and put it all together.

I would wait for Dennis to come back out with his bio-compatible system for your truck. He is working on it. You get the benifit of a lot of beta testing and improving, parts that fit and look good. Homemade, cheaper probably is the only benifit.

Check my sig to give you an idea of what you can do on your own. One thing I would do different and will do in the future is add a second pump. I would "Y" into each pump and they would feed fuel into each rear fuel port. Current system I have documented is working great though. I probably have $500 into my current system since I used good race fittings.

you left out looks better (stainless lines & anodized fittings), runs just as well (no leaks etc), and no fuel bowl.

That is fuel bowl delete, and consequently the fuel filter inside it, is an entirely different thing. I wouldn't have a problem with it as long as there was a good 2 micron filter post fuel pump. I didn't leave out stainless lnes, that sounds good but not typical for "home-made". Yours is a grade above the typical home-made job.

Don't tap your foot at me Dan, you don't even have an engine in your truck right now!

Stop by today if you're around, check out some of the new parts and tell me about the trip!

So does that mean you have the new fuel systems?!?!?! Teaser pics would be nice. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

They won't be ready to ship for several more weeks. I'm waiting on a prototype from the machine shop (spent 2 hours there on Friday going over changes) to test fit and verify then I can get 'production' orders of all of the pieces going.
