Rumors going around that the latest flash can somehow block these. Anyone running a box or programmer after doing the harness recall and associated reflash?

I really don't see how they can block modules? Tuners could be a little easier to block since you are actual changing info in the PCM. Most of the better modules don't report there existance to the PCM so I am real curious as to how they can pull that off, if they are even trying.

That is just silly /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Ford could not and would not do this even if they wanted to! It is your truck, not theirs, they have no legal right to block your ability to add power upgrades to your truck. What's more, I don't see why FOrd would care if you did, because all it does is give them the ability for a legallly and morally correct "out" of fixing your truck on warranty. Saves them lots of money, voiding warranties for tuners and chips.

Furthermore, there really isn't any way to make a PCM "immune" to a module, since all it does is modify the signal sent from a sensor to the PCM. The PCM doesn't and couldn't know the difference.

The only way that they could keep a tuner from working is to add a "passcode" in a sense to the "ford approved" prgramming, that would not allow any "non approved" programming to be downloaded. Again, i cannot imagine that Ford's legal department would allow them to do this, because, again, it is your truck, not Fords, and they have no legal right to deny you access to any part of your truck that you want to access. They can and will void your warranty for accessing parts that they don't want you in, but they cannot keep you out. It is your truck, your choice.

They probably flashed you. You need to update your Diablo. If the flash on your truck is newer than the code in your Diablo, it won't work. Call Diablo, they will walk you through what to do. Their website (I think) has the reflashes for their Predator. You just have to get the cable to download it to your Diablo. Then it should work fine,

This might be a stupid question BUT, how would I know which download I will need? Diablo Sport has R80 And R40. All input is welcome.

Ford has reflash codes....I forgot the format, but you need to find out the code you were flashed for. Then, you need Diablos update that covers that flash. Thats all there is to it.

The latest reflashes aren't blocking flashers. The issue is most likely incompatible strategies.

I recommend going back to your stock file before going to the dealer. You can then contact your "flasher or programmer" vendor to have your device upgraded. The latest reflashes from Ford change the strategy completely, so you will want to get your device upgraded. This can be done very easily via email.

I think half or more of these problems are either:

1) Got reflashed and didn't set it back to stock 1st.

or

2) Got reflashed to a version of Ford's software that your tuner doesn't know how to deal with, so you get nada.

Both are avoidable. Setting it back to stock before bringing it to a dealer is gospel at this point. If you don't do that, you are a fool for s few reasons.

The 2nd one is more mystifying at first, but easily understandable. And easy to fix, so don't sweat it.

Hey RL, What rpm's are you seeing with the 4:88 gears.. About 65 MPH?
Also, What size tire do you have.

I don't know exactly,

(now here is the part you can skip), because I have not changed anything to make up for the tires and gears. I posted in another thread about this. I have some weird results. I started with a 4.10 rear (LS). swapped out my stockers (31.5 inches I believe, on 16's) for 35.3's (Michelin 285/70R19.5). Yes, they measure 35.3" on the truck. I expected an 11% increase in miles covered vs. odometer. I think I was getting something like that, but I never measured it exactly. Then I swapped out the stock 4.10's for 4.88's with a Detroit Locker. I expected this to knock me down about 20%. I think the net net was 7% down vs. untouched odometer. So, when the odometer read 100 miles I should cover 93 real miles. I checked it and it is off, by a lot, and in the other direction! When I use mile markers, I get something like 10% MORE actual miles than odometer. So if the odometer sais I did 10 miles, I really did 11 or so. ***? I must be missing something. so,

I don't know exactly! RL

With my 40" Ground Hawgs and 4:56 Gears my Speedo is off about 10 MPH.
But honestly, all that crap about 20% and 7% confused the hell out of me...( Some people have said it don't take much.) But at 65MPH my RPM's are about 2000... That's why i was asking, Just curious...

When the speedo shows 65, I am turning just under 2500 rpms. 70 mph on the speedo is about 2700.
