1st time to post so.. Hello. Have a Ford 250 Super Duty Diesel. The trans. 2 wheel drive. Went out at 90k miles. I cannot afford a TBS. Don't want to go back with factory. Have Super chip and use it on mid performance. Pull only about 10% of time with about 8 klbs tagalong. The rest of the time just back and forth to work. 1 option is a Jasper Trans. Any thoughts or suggestion. I really could use the help ASAP. Have to make a decision in a few hours. Thanks

Bob riley @ dieselsite.com Sells the Monsterbox which is made by Jasper.I have heard nothing but good results from people who have used them..I almost bought one myself but parts were backordered and truck is used for work so we couldnt wait so we went locally..I wish i could of exp. the japer tranny first hand but just couldnt wait...Call Bob Riley im sure he will tell you more in depth information reguarding jasper and their trannies..

Take this for what it's worth. New "Monster Box" (MB) put in by local F*rd dealer in Nov. of 2004... After approx. 2000 miles, MB fails in Florida (haven't pulled a thing with the truck either). Wait a week for 2nd MB to arrive in FL, 2nd MB put in by "Authroized" Jasper trans shop. (Jasper says "Snap ring" failed in 1st MB). Approx. 450 miles later 2nd MB overheats in Ga. (Smoked) (Never got an answer as to why from Jasper). Couldn't wait another week for a 3rd MB, had to get back to Chicago. Jasper had a "regular" trans local. "Authroized" Jasper dealer put in "Regular" trans next day. (Jasper "rebated" difference in costs, not tax or any of my down time) Drove to Chicago with 3rd Jasper trans. Had fluid service done. Forward to April 2005. While driving home again from FL (pulling a 24' Searay) 3rd Jasper trans fails (overheats)in FL. Couldn't stay with truck this time. "Authroized" Jasper trans shop tells Jasper Rep. that it looked like fluid was slowly leaking from one of the fittings. Long story short..... Jasper wants $1,400.00 for another "regular" trans (doesn't include what trans shop would want for putting it in either)
Atty. said it would cost more to try and fight it then to just move on. $1,175.00 later for hauling charge to Brain's Truck Shop in Led Hill AR from FL, Less than $4000.00 for "New" BTS tranny. I am now a happy camper.......... but not with Jasper!!!!! Never ever again!!!!

I know of a guy from this site that just got his SECOND jasper transmission replaced by a BTS. I dont care how much it costs i wanna do it right the first time. So when my tranny goes bye bye..guess what? BTS here i come /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I bought a hi performance rebuilt engine from them. It was all screwed up. Cost me plenty of down time. They did pay the local dealer to replace certain parts but rest of problems I found after warranty time over. I wouldnt buy anything from them again.

I went through 3 trannys before I called ATS and ordered their transmission with triple lock converter and the commander with it. I ordered it and got it in one week I also ordered the billet shafts and this transmission does everything that was promised and then some. I like the crisp shifts and the feel of more power getting to the ground and I have truck pulled with it drag raced and haul a 23,000lb tri-axle which has living quarters and holds my mustang and we never saw temps above 180 degrees also customer service rates a ten in my book because when I had a question I was called back that day and the tech explained step by step for mechanically challenged guys like myself how to hook up the commander just an option.

Glad I saw this thread. I was banking on getting a Monsterbox when and if my stocker gives out because a local shop that my company has an account with started selling them.

Looks like I'll be getting an ATS when and if the time comes. No problems with the stocker since putting in the BD converter and sonnax/tricumulator though. *knocks on wood* /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/phoney.gif

After going through 4 factory trannys under warranty I put in Suncoast with triple loc and couldn't be happier. I do really work this thing over but have not had any trouble at all since install(20K miles) On side note...I would have gone BTS but did not have the time to wait for it.
I also had to get rid of my superchips tuner because it raised the line pressure too much with the Suncoast so I called Jody Tipton...The rest is history, I wish I would have found him before blowing my money on tuner.

Here is a fun little game for you Jasper guys. Every time they rebuild a tranny it gets a new serial number put on the case. How many serial numbers does your tranny have on it? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

WOW ONE happy customer...... that sold my on a Monstercrap. I'll take one good report over all these bad ones with my 3-4K$'s.

I have yet to see one bad post from a BTS customer. Realy folks if you have a bad report about a BTS please post it. I can't get an accurate failure ratio if NONE have failed or if they have how the service is when they do.

So far it's BTS BTS BTS for me if I need one.

Do you honestly think the whole world reads the Dieselstop and feels the need to come to the rescue and post their happy stories for you? Do you honestly feel that I would risk my reputation with a product that has the end result of the assumption here from one post?

All I can say is this, and this is assuming the post is totaly accurate in it's account. First off, I don't think it was purchased from us, Secondly, any problem that can be addressed is addressed as soon as it can. For instance, all Monster Boxes are now shipped with Billet, fully splined cover, triple disk converters. ALl MB are now assembled by the same "Team" or "pod" as they call it. Many of the changes have been in place for some time now.

The 24 month parts and labor warranty does not give us the luxury of short cutting anything. If we can make it better to assure that nothing can go wrong, we do. If anybody can tell you that something is completely bulletproof and can't fail, their lying. EVERYTHING can fail if a human has his hands in it. All I can do, or anyone can do is try to make sure if something does happen that I do anything I can to make it up to them.

I lost my stock tranny in my 96 F250 at 140,000 miles. This was about the time I started to MOD my truck.

Installed a Jasper tranny, not a monster box. I heavily modified the truck and the Jasper took all I through at it. It towed 14,000 lbs for around 100,000 miles till I sold it and it never gave me a problem. I ran synthetic and a large cooler, even got it very HOT a few times towing up winding mountain roads in 2nd with the TC not locked. (fixed that later)

I have nothing bad to say about Jasper and Everything good to say about Bob Riley. I do not think Bob would handle an inferior product.

I too have the MB. Based on price and warranty. So far so good.

So of the people who had an MB fail on them, how long ago was it approx.? I have to say a 2 year parts AND labor warranty would make me research it a little more.

I'm Backing Bob up here, I am one VERY satisfied monsterbox owner, I got to test the warranty program out early. There was a failure in the first in less than 1200 miles, It failed on a Friday afternoon. I had a new M-box installed by a jasper dealer by the following Weds afternoon. Bob orchestrated getting me up and going that quick. At the time of the purchase (Jan of this year), price was approx $1000.00 less than the BTS, would have loved to have had a Brian's tranny, but that savings, along with Bob and Sheryl great service on prior purchases, sold me on the M-box. 17,000 miles later with heavy towing and my mods my tranny is the one piece I don't worry about...

Now you newer guys here to DieselStop have never heard any stories about BTS, they have had thier problems in the past, no one is perfect, I could tell a few stories /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

I've been reading on this site for more than 5 years, I've heard more bad stories on this one thread about the Monster Box than all of BTS threads put togerther /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

To the MB's defense....the thread is titled <font color="red">JASPER</font> Trans, not Monster Box. There is a difference.
