Ok... I've gotten over the shock and awe that I need to replace ball joints at 45,000 miles... ***? A friend suggested that I do a lift kit at the same time, since I'm already paying for labor on the suspension for the ball joints. Is this a valid argument? Is it really the same labor, or not? Also, I have Revo 285's on the truck now, and I'm a little concerned that a lift kit may just make the tires look small again. Anyone have 285's and a lift? Pics?

You won't save any labour because it's two separate jobs (replacing balljoints has nothing to do with the suspension). About the only thing you would save is not having to take off the wheels twice. As far as replacing balljoints at 45K is you can't grease the OEM ones...I suggest replacing them with greaseable ones, so at least you can maintain them. I saw a post on here that suggested XRF balljoints (xrfautoparts.com) which I will look at for my '05 with 60K. I've used Moog greaseables with good success.

I just did mine right before x-mas. XRF has a good deal on ebay, 90 bucks for upper and lower. But you still need the seals and such, 160 from the dealer. Powerstrokeshop has a kit for around 300 I think with everything, they are moog if I remember. Either one of those are good.
